A simplified Indian coding proposed for forensic dental identification.

چکیده

Forensic odontology speciality gives immense importance to the dental evidence for the identification of victims and suspects in mass disasters, abuse and organized crimes.1 A working classification about the interrelationship of nine individual dental specialities with forensic odontology was formulated and a detailed review about the utility of these dental specialities with forensic odontology was ascertained.2,3 The author has analyzed the codes used in different countries in forensic dental identification4 and a coding for forensic dental identification from Indian perspective was made by studying the interrelationship of dental specialties with forensic odontology. This letter calls attention to a simplified Indian coding proposed for forensic dental identification (Table I).
